Like their namesake, Portia’s Pearls have grown from the life of Danny King.

Over 50 years as a Pāua diver, Danny harvested the delicacy from beneath the waves, discovering a treasure that few ever gaze upon -- the natural Pāua pearl, a uniquely iridescent gem. These pearls were almost unknown to the jewellery world and rarely showcased for their true beauty – which Portia’s Pearls aims to change.

Portia’s Pearls transforms these rare ocean treasures into handmade art pieces with artist Kaz Pucia, whose work blends contemporary design with New Zealand’s marine heritage. Each piece is individually hand-finished, marrying rare wild Pāua pearls to settings of sculptural silver or other metals.

The result is a one-of-a-kind piece, valued by collectors and galleries alike for their scarcity, artistry, and direct link to New Zealand’s coastal environment.
